Designed once. Meant to be inherited.
A Cleveland interior design studio. We create spaces that look gathered rather than decorated — here, and wherever else your family keeps one.
The studio
A home should feel like the people in it.
That sounds simple. It is the hardest part of the work. Almost any room can be made to photograph well. The harder thing is a room that holds a Tuesday morning, a full table in November and twenty years of family life, and only looks better for it.
So we build homes the way the good ones happen anyway — layer by layer. Something inherited next to something new. A rug that has been walked on. Nothing in the house matching anything else on purpose.

Selected work
Homes that look like they happened slowly.
The idea
The homes we love were never decorated. They were gathered.
A piece at a time, over years, with things that came from somewhere and a few that will go to someone. Our work is giving yours a head start — and then being around for the parts that come later.
Where we work
Both sides of the river.
The studio is on Detroit Avenue in Detroit–Shoreway, so the west side is home ground — Lakewood, Rocky River, Bay Village, Ohio City. Across the river we work in Shaker Heights, Cleveland Heights, Chagrin Falls, Gates Mills, Hunting Valley and Bratenahl. And the rest is wherever a family keeps a second home: Florida, the Great Lakes, the Northeast, the Mountain West. We go to the house. That part is never negotiable.

How it goes
You will always know where you are.
Seven phases, from a thirty-minute phone call to the morning the last thing is set down. At every one you know what we need from you, what we are doing, and what arrives at the end of it. Nobody enjoys a renovation they cannot see the shape of.
Tell us about the home.
Every project starts the same way: thirty minutes on the phone, no charge and no pitch. You tell us about the house and what is not working in it, and we tell you honestly whether we are the right studio for it. Most of our clients come back afterwards — for the next room, or the next house, or the one by the lake. We would rather begin something that lasts than close something that does not.
